The utlimate Bible
I got this bible as a gift about 3 years ago. since then Ive had SEVERAL people fall in love with it and ask where they can get the exact same one. This Bible is the perfect blend of scripture and supporting insightful commentary. Im 32 years old and Ive compared mine to every other bible i have come across. This one is amazing. ..if you can find it...BUY IT...

Great choice for a new christian!
I thank God for leading me to purchase this bible back in 1997, when I became a christian. It was very hard for me to understand the Old King James version. This bible is the New King James version, that is much easier to undertand. It really helped me to grow in every aspect of my life. For me it helped to translated the scriptures to everyday life. I would recommend this to teens, young adults or any new christian. You will truly be blessed.

Looking to understand the Bible better, look no further
This is a wonderful Bible. I thank my God for allowing me to find it. It relates things in the bible to things happening now in the world. It gives you a better understanding of Gods word and what he expects from us. I would recommend it to any one looking to understand the Bible better.

Absolutely Fabulous
This is probably the best historical novel (or series, as there are seven of them) ever written. Entrancing, vicious, beuatiful, innocent, short-sighted people get caught in this story of fate and destruction. Great, thumbs up!

One of the best historical novels ever written.
This is the first (and probably, the best) in Druon's excellent series, Les Rois Maudits (The Accursed Kings), dealing with the demise of the Kapetian dynasty and the beginning of the 100-year War. The legend has it that after King Philippe the Fair (Philippe Le Beau) disbanded (and destroyed) the Order of the Templars, their Master, Jacques Molais, cursed Philippe and his seed as he was burned at the stake. At the time of the curse, Philippe was in great health and had three grown sons. Less than a quarter of a century later, the Kapetians ceded the throne to their cousins Valois--for the lack of male issue to take up the throne and the inability of female issue to do so (prior to Philippe's death, a woman could techincally rule France). What happened? That is precisely the subject of Les Rois Maudits--and the first book deals with the family from the last months of Philippe's reign and until the ascention of his oldest son, Louis X.

I read this book in one day. I was awed by the characters, particularly Philippe and his gorgeous daughter Isabelle, Queen of England (remember Braveheart--the pretty French princess?), and of course, Robert D'Artois and his evil cousin Magot. The only problem with it is that it definitely leaves you hanging in the end, simply making you go and read the second book--the Prisoner of Chateau Gayard.

I would highly recommend it--it is gripping, well-written, historically accurate.

fascinante, novela historica

The King of Pizza: A Magical Story About the World's Favorite Food

Pizza Rules!
What kid doesn't love pizza? You cannot go wrong with this book. The illustrations are extraordinary!!!

A Wonderful Tale of Food and Fun
This is a children's book that sweeps away the viewer, young and old alike, into a light, colorful fable about sharing and fun. The illustations are wonderfully vibrant and richly bring to life the delightful story of an eccentric King discovering pizza for the very first time. I highly reccommend it!!

A Perfect Kids' Story!
If you love kids' books like I love kids' books, you've also found a few that are simply perfect. No other word describes them adequately. The characters are delightful, the plot expands with charm and insight, every word is exactly the right word, and to change even a simple punctuation mark would be a crime. The King of Pizza is one of these books. Ah, to be ruled by such a wise and caring king, to have subjects as generous as Salvatore, the pizza chef, to have a national decree of pizza every Saturday night! Life is good and The King of Pizza in my lap has made it even better. Thanks, Mr. Sanzari and Mr. Hurst. Keep cooking up more magic.

King's Test

Keeps the Series Intense
In this novel, the struggle for power continues between Maigrey, Derek Sagan, and Dion Starfire. However, a new, deadly opponent comes to the surface. The new opponent is going to try to tear apart the Guardians and Dion. However, Maigrey and Sagan have a few tricks up their sleeves! This novel continues right where the first one ended. It is fast paced and highly enjoyable.

Awsome fantasy fiction!!
This was the best book I have ever read!!I'm currently looking for the 5th book, but I can't find it!What I really want to do is buy the whole series together.I need to know: how many books are in the whole series, if she's written them all, and where could I but them?If you know, email me at LanenKae@a0l.com

unusual in the intensity of charactization . . .
The characters are what make this story one of the best I have ever read. Maigrey, Tusk, and Sagan are some of the most powerful characters I have ever found. Weis excells in constructing an immediate sense of the situations in King's Test. The politician Robes is a villian everyone loves to hate. Especially fascinating is the history of the galaxy that precedes the story. Unusually, Weis seems to have three or four main characters, instead of one. Dion Starfire would qualify as the central figure, but the others are so powerfully written that they almost seem to take over the book. References to Milton, Plato, Dickens enrich an already thought-provoking work. After Lost King, I couldn't sleep until I had read the other three books. I would suggest this book to anyone with an interest in futuristics, or for anyone just looking for a great read.

The Kings Depart: The Tragedy of Germany: Bersailles and the German Revolution
Published in Hardcover by Simon & Schuster (April, 1981)
Author: Richard M. Watt
Average review score:

Outstanding Book
I would heartily recommend this to anyone with an interest in 20th century history. Superb history, the way it should be written.

Another Revolution Follows The Great War
The author sought books on the German Revolution of 1918-1919; finding none, he wrote this one. The failure of the German military to win the war by 1918 produced mutinies, revolution, and the end of their Second Empire by October 1918. A new republic was proclaimed, and the Armistice led to the treaty of Versailles. While the Kaiser fled to Holland, his military remained as a wanted burden to the new republic: it alone could suppress the revolutions breaking out all over Germany. This left them as the striking force fro a republic that they despised; eventually they came to support the Nazis (p.527) and a new European War. This seems like the inevitable result from the Allied failure to overthrow and purge the German ruling class, or divide the German Reich into separate nations, as was correctly done after World War II. Denazification and partition, plus grouping the small nations into large blocks, kept the peace for 50 years. But nothing lasts forever.

Woodrow Wilson gave many speeches on "Democracy", but he was appointed President of Princeton, Governor of NJ, then President of the US through his personal ambition. Pages 15-20 tell of the contradictions and complexities in his personality. His dictatorial rule at Princeton led to his firing. A personal friendship allowed him to be nominated as the Democratic candidate for Governor of NJ. He promised to work with the "organization", then reneged on his promises! He drafted a torrent of liberal legislation (as did Bismarck in the 1880s). He met Edward House, and insider and power broker in the national party. House's technique" get a clean candidate and let the party organization do its job; it still works today! Jim Marr's "Rule By Secrecy" tells how and why the 1912 election was fixed to create the private banking cartel that controls our economy. Running a third party candidate helped in 1980 and 1992.

Wilson's dictatorial personality abraded many in Congress; he lectured them, he didn't talk to them. His cabinet had few men of first caliber; it was as if he could only work with subordinates. But Edward House knew how to manipulate him (p.22).

Wilson declared war as a fight to make the world safe for democracy, an idealistic crusade that overlooks the fact that wars are waged for loot: markets, provinces, colonies, etc.

Perhaps Wilson's greatest fault was that everything was handed to him; he didn't have to claw his way to the top by competitive elections (p.27). Page 36 tallies the triumphs of Woodrow Wilson. Perhaps the "errors in judgment" were due to his pride and his refusal to take expert advice (p.37), complicated by his arteriosclerosis or some other disease ("megalomania"?). Wilson gained fame and recognition through his speeches; a rhetorician, not a manager.

A warm recommendation !
Thirty years ago, whilst I was a student, I first read this wonderful book. Since then I have not been able to get it out of my mind, except.... I had forgotten the author's name and the title! After many years of searching I finally discovered the reviews on these pages and recognised that the reviewers were describing the book which had so intrigued me so many years ago. The excitement of the narrative brought the events to life most wonderfully, especially as this is a little-known chapter of world history. An excellent read! Warmly recommended.

Wild Writing Women: Stories of World Travel
Published in Paperback by Globe Pequot Pr (April, 2002)
Authors: Lisa Alpine, Jacqueline Butler, Lauren Cuthbert, Lynn Ferrin, and Carla King
Average review score:

Wonderful Wild Women
What a refreshing, beautiful book. The essays within are full of powerful and rich personality, which serves to give a full sensory perception of the places of which they write. There is an abandon and adventurous spirit that blows through the pages and inspires the reader not just to travel, but to really experience the places one goes, even close to home.

Perfectly executed!
This book was perfectly conceived and executed. These 24 smart stories by 12 smart women cover the whole tonal range -- funny, poignant, gut-wrenching, beautiful, thoughtful, irreverant, wonderfully sappy... And the publishing concept itself was brilliant, a clever way to crack a difficult market: strength in numbers, taking power into their own hands...in retrospect it seems so obvious, but I'm sure that two years ago these women had little idea how brilliant they were being... I'm 50 years old now, and anyone who has reached my stage of geezerhood knows the value of having even one good solid friend. I attended a salon event these women put on in San Francisco recently, and I mentioned to one of them just how great I thought it would be to have twelve friends as tight as they seem to be. Her response: "Well, now you do!" And that is the feeling that one comes away with after reading their book: Twelve new friends.

World Class Book On World Travel
"Stories Of World Travel" by the Wild Writing Women is the best and most entertaining travel book that I have read. Each chapter is a stand-alone story of an exotic adventure written by experienced authors and travelers. The "Spirits of Scotland" story by Cathleen Miller had a most surprising twist on a honeymoon adventure. I recommend the book highly.

Holy Bible New Geneva Study/New King James Version//Black Bonded Leather (Style No 2995/Black)
Published in Paperback by Thomas Nelson (April, 1995)
Author: Nelsonword
Average review score:

Good idea but should have checked all contributors
The New Geneva Study Bible was a great idea. But the editors should have checked the background and sentiments of all the contributors. One contributor, Joe Trafton of Western Kentucky University, has views very much at odds with the original Reformers of Geneva. He contributed to the Pastoral letters. But he is a member of the Catholic Biblical Association and committed to not criticizing Rome. Calvin would spin in his grave!

No holds barred - the best there is!
Never has there been a Bible so true to reformed theology. I use it, and have purchased several volumes for friends. Easy read. Well laid out, and with plenty of side notes and definitions. Grand.

Solid Truth
The truth of the Word of God is consistently illustrated thoughthe notes, etc. The articles included give "meat" that is sodesparately needed in the church today "Providence" "Divine Sovereignty" "Faith and Works" etc. even a few non-controversial articles: "Infant Baptism" "Marriage and Divorce" & "Hell". The scripture notes cover the "problem" texts of scripture rather than conveniently skipping over them. Also the view of the authors of the notes that the Bible is the Word of God (inspired, infallible, inerrant as Jesus defined these terms) comes through. It is truly a treasure. END

EXCITING NEW AUTHOR
'KING OF THE SHORE'IS A "MUST READ"BOOK.FROM THE MOMENT
I BOUGHT IT UNTIL THE TIME I FINISHED IT,I DID NOT WANT
TO PUT IT DOWN.I WILL CONTINUE TO READ IT AGAIN AND AGAIN
IT TOUCHED ME ON A PERSONAL LEVEL.FOR EXAMPLE,IT STENGHTENED
MY BELIEF IN THAT THERE IS A HIGHER POWER OUT THERE.I AM
LOOKING FORWARD TO THE NEXT BOOK WRITTEN BY"ERYN ADAMS"

King of the Shore
King of the Shore is a must read for any true science fiction fan. Finally, someone has taken hold of the future and combined it with Christ. If you like Heinlein,Herbert,or Clark your gonna love Eryn Adams. Two very enthusiastic charenian thumbs up!

Great Futuristic Godly Sci-Fi "Hard to put down"
The author developed the book in multi stratas of coverage with the mark of a expert novel writter as few can do. The various inter related characters, poltical structure, universe scheme, ultimate conflict clash between good/bad, the technology explainations/details/science of, and the careful inclusion of God as the Lord, all experienced by the reader via the key Character Marcus was excellent. The outcome was really neat too, the author's Christian solution of prayer to God, showing the thought to be underdog culture, as the real intellectual winners.

King's Sacrifice
Published in Paperback by Spectra (February, 1997)
Author: Margaret Weis
Average review score:

King' Sacrafice will move you!
King's Sacrafice takes us back to the galaxy with Dion, Sagan and Maigrey. This novel picks up right where the prequel lets off......it is high paced, and leaves you on the edge of your seat. Scenes with Abdiel are very intense, and entertaining. I loved this novel due to the influx of new intriguing characters. See who will finally control the galaxy! Will it be Dion? Or Sagan? Or Maigrey? Or a combination of all three?

One of the best books I have read
I am not a usual fantasy or sci-fi reader, but a friend convinced me to read The Star of the Guardians series. In fact, the only fantasy I had read before this were The Lord of the Rings. I became addicted to The Star of the Guardians as soon as I picked them up! King's Sacrifice stuck out in my mind as the best one in the series though (I cried more than I did in Gone With the Wind and The Man in the Iron Mask(the book) combined). The best part about this book was the inexorable destinies of Lady Maigrey and Lord Sagan, and their romantic interactions with one another. Now don't get me wrong! It isn't all mush, it is very quick-paced! The mush just got to me the most. The only thing about this book is that the writing is good, but not excellent like Ray Bradbury or Margaret Atwood...in other words, it's not what you might call a contemporary classic. From a well read person, I think you would like it.
